Abstract

After experiencing deep and intense transformation in its production sector and population behavior pattern in the 70’s and 80’s, the State of Paraná engaged, in the nineties, in an intense changing process concerning public education. Those changes affected the fundamental and medium education strongly, causing significant impact on the public services and providing wider access to education not only to children and youngsters at school age, but also to the under-educated adult population. The registration expansion and education indicators are different faces of those services’ enlargement which was also accompanied by the improvement on such services results. In the root of that positive performance, there is the adoption of pedagogic strategies addressed towards the fluidity of school flow and challenge to the “culture of repetition” along with State and municipality deliberate responsibility sharing policies haring, and the guarantee of a constant flow of financial resources to the sector. This article presents an overall view of such changing process most significant aspects.
