Abstract

The objective of this paper is to analyze the “Parana 12 months” Program for the period of 1999-2003 for which there are individual data for the municipalities. According to the data, the total investment reached around R$283.0 million of real. The methodology used was the employment and income multipliers. These coefficients were obtained by Nunes (2010). The employment multiplier coefficient projects more than 35.0 thousand jobs being generated directly and indirectly from the program during the period. The official estimates from the project was around 38.0 thousand. The impact of income directly and indirectly was estimated to be more than R$ 78.0 million of real. These estimates are valid for the short run and for the period being analyzed. The results show the expected positive impact of the program in the economy of the State of Parana.
