Abstract

This research aims at evaluating the contribution of retirement and pensions for the unequal distribution of household income per capita in the Paraná and Rural Area of Paraná, from 1988 to 2008. For this, it is reviewed the literature, bringing the threshold of the debate on the contribution of retirement and pensions for the concentration of income and its main findings to Paraná. As a methodology, it was used the decomposition of the Gini Index, having as parameter the distribution of household income per capita of the Countryside and Brazil. As a result, there is a increasing participation of the retirements and pensions in the formation of per capita household income for all groups analyzed in the post1992, which is explained by social and economic policies of the period, mainly through the legal contributions imposed by Constitution of 1988.
