Abstract

The present article aims to understand the institutional role, through its territorial policies, on the development process of the boundary region adjacent to Itaipu Lake - also known as
“West Coast Region of Paraná”. The regional planning will guide the study, considering it inherent to the territorializing process. The regional planning has strengthen with institutional activity in different levels of government (federal, state, and municipal). The challenge is to articulate these territorial policies in order to maximize production within regional limitations and possibilities. The regional question is geographically influenced in every municipality in this region, as much as from the spacial configuration, as from the institutional policies that connect them.
