Abstract

As per this article we will lean further to the return of the subject of Russia’s great status of power. Such process, as we source to present, predates the rise of Putin to national politics as becoming President, in the year of 2000, as he presented himself as a contraposition upon Pro-Western insertion bias, also called liberal internationalism, once noticed in the early 90´s, which was featured by the attempt of approaching United States and as per the contraction of Russian political activity in nearly all geopolitical positions around the world. Upon this new approach, noticeable at least since 1996, during the term of Boris Yeltsin, Russia has been seen as a power hub towards the global order as increasingly multipolar, not to mention the consolidation cherish of political, economic and even social ties with other countries as to source central stage roles, mainly with members of the BRICS group, and to perform promising roles upon such power settings, while seeking to balance the liaison between the mainstream centers of worldwide western force, specially USA. Such reconfiguration, on the other hand, it did not take place due to an abrupt modification of power on the global scenario nor in the distribution of power between the great forces, but rather to respond to a circumstantial dissatisfaction in the domestic field which threatened the very permanence of Yeltsin on power, and such vector has remained, notwithstanding of some circumstantial adjustments and modifications.
