The economic activity organized by cooperative companies demonstrates to be an important way to stimulate the economic and social development. From this point, the objective of this paper it is to analyze the fast evolution of this activity by industrial cooperatives, with focus on the State of Paraná. Moreover, we present the direct correlation between this evolution and the central role played by Banco Regional de Desenvolvimento do Extremo Sul (BRDE) as an inductive public institution for economic and social development.
