Abstract

The colonial cheese is a segment of the family agroindustry and has been part of the culture of the Southwest region of Paraná since the 1940, it is extremely traditional where the “know-how” has been passed on for several generations. One of the actions that the State took to support the development of rural family agroindustrialization was the creation of the Unified System of Attention to Agricultural Health in the State of Paraná (SUSAF-PR). Thus, the objective of this study is to present the socioeconomic impacts experienced by cheese producers in the Southwest region of Paraná after joining the SUSAF-PR. The methodology is exploratory and descriptive in nature, and cross-sectional data were obtained through an online questionnaire. The study was carried out in March 2023 with 80% of the cheese dairies that have the state seal in the region. The results showed that SUSAF-PR contributed to increase income, to improve the living conditions of families and to expand the insertion of the product in the market. In this case, it is possible to infer that the SUSAF-PR is an important tool for the development of small producers in Paraná, but it needs to be improved, reducing the bureaucratization even more of this program, so that more producers have access and are able to produce cheese safely health, promoting the cultural dissemination and appreciation of Paraná's colonial cheese.
