Abstract

Nowadays, Latin America gathers significant society sectors living below poverty line. It is estimated that in Brazil 43,5% of the population earns 2 dollars a day and 40 million people live in absolute misery. This situation is worsened by the unbalanced income distribution, and Latin America has the worse ratio at world level. The region clear social disparities have negative impacts on the national saving capability, internal market dynamics and public health. Such disparities cause social exclusion, undermine the national trustworthiness and weaken the capability of governing democratically. Thus, poverty and iniquity have negative impacts on family and education system, which are matrixes that shape the society human resources. The present article intends to present the Latin America social panorama, focusing its two main pillars: family and education.
