Strategies, challenges and prospectives of knowledge management: Curitiba’s public administration experience on competencies management and corporate education practices

Abstract

Municipal Knowledge Management is a challenge that needs be supported by strategies and effective actions from both public sector managers and public servant, taking care of present and future perspectives. Whereas public servant is a resource of competitive advantage on Curitiba city hall the paper objective was reflecting how the knowledge management can helps to achieve the excellence in practices in municipal public management. For convenience, they were selected two practices: administration for competences and the corporative education. The research methodology was a case-study guided by case-study protocol. The research found that knowledge management is been used, but not at your full potential. The paper conclusion allowed to reflect that adopt of structured practices based by public servant’s knowledge can raise the effective of public services, as consequence the quality of life can increase.
